Shocking Video Captures Instant Police Suffer Blade Attacks in Surprise Attack
A senior officer that leaped to the help of a partner that got attacked by a knifeman has been awarded the Royal Recognition for Bravery.
Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he placed a weapon to the neck of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown initiated the assault as the policemen and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a motorist after a road collision in the area in mid-2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a electric weapon.
"Officer attacked," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his radio.
Bodyworn and dashboard camera recording made public by the police department depicted Brown, who was dressed in black with a head covered, rush to Sgt Foster from the rear with a blade extended.
He collided with the policeman who lost balance and went down to the ground, before Sgt Ansell jumped in and attempted to subdue him to the pavement despite being multiple times hit with the weapon.
Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a clear shot, bringing the struggle to an conclusion.
Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "I need something on my throat now, I'm bleeding in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell received two open wounds to his neck and more cuts to his arms and torso, while Sergeant Foster experienced knife wounds.
The department stated Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to stop his partner's blood loss before emergency responders arrived.
The latest award arrives subsequent to the law enforcement team won departmental Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the regional union branch in April 2024.
They were also awarded a Regional Bravery Award in summer 2024.
"The actions of each policeman ultimately protected each other and ensured no bystanders endured any wounds."
Brown was sentenced to an secure medical confinement in spring 2024, per authorities.
